[Order Entry & Trade Execution](https://help.metrotrade.com/kb/metrotrade-platform?hsLang=en#order-entry-trade-execution) # Adding Take-Profit and Stop-Loss Orders The order panel lets you attach a stop-loss and take-profit to your trade at the same time you place it, so your risk management is set up from the moment you enter a position. This is available across Market, Limit, Stop, and Stop Limit order types. ### **Setting Up Stop-Loss and Take-Profit** **![Screenshot 2026-10-06 124143](https://help.metrotrade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-10-06%20124143.png?width=246&height=445&name=Screenshot%202026-10-06%20124143.png)** 1. Open the order panel and select your order type. Market is the most common choice for immediate entry, though this feature works the same way across all order types. 2. Choose **Buy** or **Sell**, and set your quantity. 3. Click the **Stop Loss & Take Profit** dropdown to expand it. 4. Set your stop-loss and take-profit levels. You can: 5. Enter an exact number of ticks, or use the quick preset buttons (20, 50, or 100 ticks) to set the distance from your entry price. A tick is the minimum price increment for the contract. 6. Click the arrow icon next to the ticks to switch to entering an exact price level instead of a tick distance. 7. As you set each level, the panel automatically calculates your estimated profit or loss (Est. P&L) if that level is hit. 8. Click **Buy** or **Sell** to submit the order. Your entry order, stop-loss, and take-profit are all placed together. ### **How Stop-Loss and Take-Profit Work Together** Your stop-loss and take-profit are linked, similar to an OCO (One-Cancels-the-Other) order. When either one is triggered, the other is automatically cancelled. By default, both orders match the quantity of your entry order. Once submitted, your stop-loss and take-profit appear as lines directly on the chart, tied to your position. If you want to scale out of a multi-contract position at different price levels, place separate stop or limit orders instead, either from the order panel or the right-click chart menu.
