This article breaks down each part of the chart window so you can read it at a glance.  ![Screenshot 2026-10-06 103212](https://help.metrotrade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-10-06%20103212.png?width=489&height=275&name=Screenshot%202026-10-06%20103212.png) ### **Symbol Header** At the top left of the chart, you'll find information about the symbol currently loaded. - **Contract information icon**: Click to display the selected contract’s trading hours, exchange information, specs, margin, commissions, and fees. - **Symbol name**: The contract and expiration month, such as MNQ 'Sep 26. - **Status dot**: A colored dot next to the symbol name shows whether the market is currently open. - **OHLC readout**: Open, High, Low, and Close (OHLC) prices for the candle your cursor is hovering over. If you're not hovering over a candle, this shows the most recent one. - **Volume**: The V value next to OHLC shows volume for that same candle. - **Indicator values**: If you have indicators active, their values appear just below the OHLC readout. For example, if you've added a Volume indicator, you'll see a Volume badge here. ### **Chart Toolbar** The toolbar above the chart lets you control what the chart displays. - **Timeframe selector**: Switch between timeframes from 1-minute to monthly (1m, 5m, 15m, 1H, 4H, 1D, 1W, 1M). - **One-click trading**: Displays a box with market buy/sell buttons for quick trading. - **Indicators**: Opens the indicator library. A number badge shows how many indicators are currently active on the chart. - **Display settings**: Opens a menu that lets you change the chart type (Candles, Hollow, Bull, Bear, Bars, Area), price scale (Normal, Log, %), zoom anchor, and several on-chart display options such as high/low labels, bar close countdown, grid lines, and session break lines. - **Symbol search**: Search for any contract by name or symbol to load it in the chart. Changing timeframes and adding indicators are both covered in separate articles. ### **Drawing Toolbar** The vertical toolbar along the left edge of the chart gives you tools for technical analysis, including trendlines, horizontal lines, and a crosshair for measuring price and time. Using drawing tools is covered in a separate article. ### **Price Chart Area** The main part of the chart window shows price action as candlesticks. - **Candlesticks**: Green candles show the price closed higher than it opened. Red candles show the price closed lower. - **Current price line**: A dashed horizontal line marks the last traded price, with a label showing the exact price and a countdown to when the current candle closes. - **Chart labels**: The chart automatically labels the highest and lowest prices currently visible, so you can spot the range at a glance. - **Price axis**: Runs along the right side of the chart. - **Time axis**: Runs along the bottom of the chart. ### **Volume Panel** Below the main price chart, a volume histogram shows trading volume for each candle.
