Once triggered, it fills at the best available price, similar to a market order. Stop orders are commonly used to limit losses on an open position or to enter a trade once price breaks through a certain level. ### **Using the Order Panel** **![Screenshot 2026-10-06 122235](https://help.metrotrade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-10-06%20122235.png?width=217&height=324&name=Screenshot%202026-10-06%20122235.png)** 1. Open the order panel on the right side of the screen. 2. Click **Stop** at the top of the panel. 3. Click **Sell** or **Buy** to choose which side of the market you want to trade. 4. Set your quantity using the plus and minus buttons. 5. Enter your stop price. The **LAST** button next to the field allows you to set your stop at the last traded price. 6. (Optional) Click the **Stop Loss & Take Profit** dropdown to attach a stop-loss and take-profit to the order. 7. Click the **Buy** or **Sell** button at the bottom of the panel to submit the order. #### **Stop Price Rules** Because a stop order only triggers once the market reaches your price, the platform enforces a valid price range: - A **buy stop** order must be placed at or above the last price. - A **sell stop** order must be placed at or below the last price. Right-click on the chart at the price level you want. 2. A menu opens showing that price, a quantity selector, and two order buttons. 3. The buttons shown depend on whether you clicked above or below the current market price: 4. **Below the current price**: Buy Limit and Sell Stop. 5. **Above the current price**: Sell Limit and Buy Stop. 6. Click **Buy Stop** or **Sell Stop** to place the order at that price. ### **Keep in Mind** - A stop order isn't guaranteed to fill at your exact stop price. Once triggered, it fills at the best available price, which can differ from your stop price in fast-moving markets. - Stop orders and limit orders share the same right-click chart menu.
