This article covers what each P&L-related metric means. ### **P&L Metrics in the Account Summary** In addition to Balance, you can enable several P&L metrics in the Account Summary: - **UPL (Unrealized P&L)**: The paper profit or loss on your currently open positions, based on the current market price. This updates in real time and isn't locked in until you close the position. - **Daily RPL (Daily Realized P&L)**: The profit or loss you've locked in today from trades that have already closed. - **Daily P&L**: Your total profit and loss for the current trading day, combining Daily RPL and UPL. - **P&L**: A running total of your account's realized profit and loss. ### **How These Numbers Relate** A couple of these metrics are calculated from the others, which can help explain what you're seeing: - **Daily P&L = Daily RPL + UPL**. Your total for the day combines what you've already locked in with what your open positions are currently worth. - **Free Margin = (Balance + UPL) − Used Margin**. Your available margin accounts for both your cash balance and any open position gains or losses, not just your balance alone.
